Westfest is Back for 2017!

An Ottawa institution celebrating its 14th year, Westfest has come to represent all the best pieces of (what some have once called) a “boring” city.

Diversity. Inclusivity. Creativity. Passion. Hidden under a facade of federal government departments and seemingly straight-edged culture is a city pulsing to its very own beat.

This year’s festival will continue in its tradition of offering tens of thousands of Ottawans and city visitors the chance to eat, play, drink, and dance with some of the best and most diverse artists, entertainers, and vendors the city has to offer... FOR FREE!

Here at PageCloud, we couldn’t be more excited to be in on the action as a major sponsor. In fact, the entire Westfest website was created and designed using PageCloud by the very talented Mauro Scatozza

“PageCloud chose to sponsor Westfest for a couple reasons," explains Craig Fitzpatrick, PageCloud Founder & CEO. "First, although we "digital" people tend to think globally, it is always very important for us to be an active and supportive members in our local community. "

"The second reason," he continues, "It that we are a media company. We are lovers of everything arts and music related. Sponsoring the festival was a perfect fit."

Speaking to Ottawa Life Magazine earlier this year, Westfest Founder and Producer, Elaina Martin, brought it all back to the reason she launched Westfest in the first place.

“Year after year, we’ve been committed to offering a festival like no other in the city, where local residents, artists, musicians, organizers, and audiences can gather together to celebrate music and art in a welcoming, safe, and inclusive space.”

So what can you expect at this year’s festival? Take a peek.

INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCES

Westfest offers the most diverse performance lineup of any festival in the city, and this year is no different.

From the foot stomping stylings of local Blues favourite River City Junction, to the electronic beats of A Tribe Called Red founding member Deejay NDN, and unique musical storytelling by Jacqui Du Toit and Tribal Threat, Westfest crosses entire swaths of the musical spectrum with its 2017 lineup.

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

A kid-friendly festival through-and-through, Westfest never neglects the wee ones in its program planning. Start your Sunday morning on the right foot with a Westfest Family Yoga Session in the park hosted by Yogatown!

Or bring the kids over to the Napkyn Family Fun Area where they can top up on fun with bouncy houses, obstacle courses, games, educational art programming, workshops, crafts and more.

Parents… Need a chill pill? Then this year’s Westfest is about to get even better. Thanks to Dovercourt Recreation Centre staff, you will now be able to DROP YOUR KIDS OFF in this secure programming area before heading off to explore the festival. It really doesn’t get better than this.
