Adding a Popup on Wordpress

Updated May 9th, 2024

In the competitive world of online business, engaging your website visitors and converting them into loyal customers is essential. One highly effective way to achieve this is by integrating popups into your website. Popups can significantly enhance user interaction, promote special offers, and guide visitors towards desired actions. You can do all of this using Pagecloud Popups, and you just need one line of code.

Why use Popups on your Website

Have you ever felt like your website is too static? Your website should be in constant motion and always bringing new business behind the scenes. That's why popups are a great addition as they can make your website more dynamic!

Boost Engagement: Popups are an excellent way to capture your visitors' attention, highlighting important messages, offers, or content that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Increase Conversions: Well-designed popups with compelling calls-to-action can persuade visitors to make purchases, sign up for newsletters, or take other valuable actions.

Generate Leads: Use popups to collect email addresses and other contact information, helping you build a robust customer database for future marketing efforts.

Enhance User Experience: Thoughtfully crafted popups can provide timely and relevant information, improving the overall user experience on your site.

Ways to use Popups and Banners on Your Website

Here are a few ways you can use popups on your website!
Welcome Offers: Greet new visitors with a special discount or promotion to make a positive first impression and encourage immediate engagement.

Exit-Intent Popups: Capture the attention of visitors about to leave your site by offering a last-minute deal or asking them to subscribe to your newsletter.

Seasonal Promotions: Highlight limited-time offers related to holidays, sales events, or special occasions to drive timely conversions.

Content Upgrades: Offer downloadable resources such as eBooks, whitepapers, or guides in exchange for visitors' contact information.

Event Announcements: Promote upcoming webinars, workshops, or live events to increase participation and awareness.

Survey and Feedback Requests: Collect valuable insights from your visitors by asking them to participate in surveys or provide feedback on their experience.

Adding a Popup to Your Wordpress Website

Step 1

Configure Pagecloud

When adding a Pagecloud popup or banner to your third-party hosted website there are a few steps that need to be completed. In this section we'll configure a Pagecloud banner and get it ready to be displayed on your Framer site.

  • Configure your domain name
  • Define the pages we want the banner to display on
  • Copy the embed code to use on your site

Adding your Domain Name

1. Navigate to your Pagecloud dashboard

2. Select your project and click Banners and Popups in your left menu

3. Click Settings on your banner or popup

4. In Setup, make sure you've connected your domain name in the Where to display section

Selecting Pages

Once a domain name has been configured, you can specify the pages where the popup or embed will be displayed. You can choose to display on every page, or only a subset of pages.

It's recommended to use 'Include pages' which allows you to specify individual pages to show the popup without making additional updates to your website.

1. Select 'Include pages'

2. Click the '+ Add pages button'

3. Add the name of your page.

Note: You may also use wildcards in the form '/mypage*' which would match '/mypage' '/mypage2', etc.

Copy Embed Code

Find your embed code in your Pagecloud dashboard. This code is available in Setup at the bottom, or in your left toolbar.

Step 2

Configure Wordpress

It is recommended to use the free "Insert Headers and Footers" plugin by WPCode to add the Pagecloud embed code to every page on your Wordpress site. Adding the script to your site settings allows you to manage the appearance and location of your banner or popup on specific pages using your Pagecloud dashboard. This approach requires no future changes to your Framer settings.

1. Download and activate the plugin

2. Open your Wordpress dashboard

3. From the left menu click Code Snippets → Header & Footer.

4. Paste the Pagecloud embed code into the Header box and click the "Save Changes" button.

Adding popups to your WordPress site hosted on Wix is a highly effective way to boost user engagement, increase conversions, and enhance the overall visitor experience. With the simplicity of integrating just one line of code, you can quickly implement popups that capture attention and drive meaningful actions.
